Theresa Lopez, AMFT

Theresa Lopez is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. She works with teens, college students, and adults. She particularly enjoys working with college students and adults and has experience treating anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties, narcissistic abuse recovery, post-traumatic stress, and attachment injuries. She has also worked with at-risk youth alongside developmental trauma, anger management, interpersonal relationships, crisis, depression, and anxiety. She is sensitive to multicultural issues and understands that ethnicity, culture, sexuality, and gender identities are an important consideration to care. Theresa has experience working with athletes and understands the psychological and emotional demands required for execution, achievement, and managing failure. She is trained in Gestalt therapy which emphasizes awareness of present experiences and assists the client with acquiring insight of their world view and core beliefs. Theresa is also trained in EMDR and Brainspotting trauma therapy and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Her approach is collaborative and rooted in authentic attunement with the client’s needs and experiences.


Theresa earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of La Verne. Her graduate career included extensive research on psychological abuse, Narcissism, and Narcissistic Abuse Recovery.
